Jhirna is located on the southern edge of the Corbett Tiger Reserve. The animal population also includes sloth and wild elephants, which provide great sights for wildlife lovers. The Jhirna zone is open throughout the year. The Jhirna Jeep Safari Zone is one of the most engaging places in the Corbett Tiger Reserve.
Day visit to Jhirna zone is through Dhela gate which is 20 km from Ramnagar. Its main topography consists of predominantly deciduous and secondary forests interspersed with plush open grasslands that offer amazing wildlife visibility.

Jhirna (FRH)
Jhirna FRH is located on the southern boundary of the Corbett Tiger Reserve and is accessible from the Dhela Gate. The vegetation here is drier and mostly bushy. It was agricultural land until the relocation of villages (Dhara, Jhirna and Kothirau) in 1994 under Project Tiger. The area has recovered really well and is a testament to the rejuvenating power of nature. After successful ecological restoration, the area is now a popular wildlife area

Restaurant and Canteen: Food facilities at Jhirna FRH are located in the center of the jungle and are limited. This means that the guest house has a kitchen with a cook, but visitors have to bring their own ingredients to get a cooked meal. The forest lodge cook will cook the ingredients you provide and serve you a hot meal. You can only bring raw vegetarian items for cooking and wine is prohibited inside the forest lodge.

Chaurs (Grass plots)
Around Jhirna we have a large chaurs (grass land) known as Laldhang Chaur. The area is popular with wild herbivores such as elephants and deer.
Flora and fauna
The terrain consists of large open grasslands, popularly known as Chaur. Its topography is mainly dry deciduous type with secondary forest. There are many natural streams within the area. Streambeds are warm and accessible for exploring. There are cliff edges along with streams that can prove to be a good spot for bird watching.
One of the best places to see tigers in their natural habitat, it is a must-visit zone for wildlife enthusiasts.

How to get to Jhirna
Jhirna gate is about 20 km from Ramnagar city, Jhirna safari opens round the year for day safari. One-day visits can be booked using the official web portal. During monsoon, safari booking cannot be done in advance for Jhirna gate as in case of heavy rains the safari can be canceled on any particular day, so safari permits are issued on current basis.
