Where is Corbett Tiger Reserve located?
Geographically, the Corbett Tiger Reserve is located in the Shivalik Hills of the Himalayas, while administratively it is spread over the districts of Pauri Garhwal, Nainital and Almora in the state of Uttarakhand, India. Ramnagar, in Nainital district is its administrative headquarters.
How do I reach Corbett Tiger Reserve?

By Train: Delhi-Moradabad-Kashipur-Ramnagar (Ramnagar is the nearest railway station)
By Air: Dehradun and Delhi are the nearest operational airports.

What are the entry points to Corbett Tiger Reserve?
Corbett Tiger Reserve has five gateways to access its tourist zones namely Bijrani, Dhangari, Jhirna, Durgadevi and Vatanbasa (Kotdwar). Vatanvasa Gate (Kotdwar) is the entry point to the Sonanadi tourist zone and is regulated from the Kotdwara Reception Centre.

What is the closing time at Corbett Tiger Reserve?
Corbett Tiger Reserve remains closed during monsoons. All zones of Corbett Tiger Reserve are closed for visitors due to night breaks from 15th June to 14th November. Bijrani Zone remains closed for day visits from 30th June to 14th October. Dhikala, Lohachaur and Sonanadi tourist zones are closed for day visits from June 16 to November 14. However, the Jhirna Tourist Zone remains open for day safaris throughout the year, provided the roads and weather conditions are safe.
Between June 1 and 15, Dhikala, Lohachaur and Sonanadi zones are on alert. Advance bookings are not taken during this period and these zones may be closed at short notice by the Director, Corbett Tiger Reserve depending on weather conditions and with regard to visitor safety.
What is the weather like in Corbett Tiger Reserve?
In the Corbett Tiger Reserve, the minimum temperatures can reach up to 2 degrees C in the months of December and January, while the maximum temperatures in the months of May and June reach up to 42 degrees C.
What days off does Corbett Tiger Reserve Safari have?
Except during the period mentioned in paragraph 6 above, no entry is allowed in the Corbett Tiger Reserve on the day of ‘Holi’ festival.
Can I visit all zones with one entry permit?
Entry permits are issued for a specific tourist zone. Safari is only allowed for a specific reserved zone. The other zones will remain outside the playing area for the visitor.

What are the different trekking zones in Corbett Tiger Reserve?
Day safaris are allowed in five zones in the Corbett Tiger Reserve. These zones are Bijrani, Dhangari, Jhirna, Durgadevi and Sonanadi (Kotdwar).
How to get a nature guide/naturalist for our visit?
It is mandatory to be accompanied by a registered guide/naturalist when visiting the Corbett Tiger Reserve. The guide fee for each safari is paid directly to the guide at the end of the visit. Guides will be available at the entry point in Amdanda and Jhirna. Guides for Dhikala must be picked up by arrangement with Amdanda.
How many people are allowed in the vehicle on safari?
A maximum of six adults and two children are allowed in the vehicle while visiting the Corbett Tiger Reserve, excluding the mandatory wildlife guide/naturalist and the driver.
Is there any exemption for children when visiting Corbett Tiger Reserve?
Children under the age of five are exempt from the entry fee and the fee for riding elephants.
Where to stay in Corbett Tiger Reserve?
Accommodation facilities are available inside Corbett Tiger Reserve at Dhikala FRH, Sultan FRH, Sarpduli FRH and Gairal FRH in Dhikala zone, Bijrani FRH and Malani FRH in Bijrani zone, Jhirna FRH in Jhirna zone; KandaFRH and Lohachaur FRH in Durgadevi zone. Accommodation is also available at Halduparao in Sonanadi tourist zone. All rooms are equipped with a double bed and basic equipment. A twelve-bed room at Dhikala and an eight-bed room at Gairal are also available. Electricity is not available in any of the FRHs except Dhikala. Some campuses have limited generator backup.p>
Do the Forest Service Stations have a canteen?
Canteen facilities are available only at Dhikala FRH and Gairal FRH. The canteens are managed by K.M.V.N. Ltd. In other places, there is a kitchen for cooking, where guests must bring their own food. The staff can provide the necessary assistance in cooking.
What are the mandatory documents I need to have with me during the safari?
All adult visitors are required to produce any of the following IDs (Voter ID, Driving Licence, PAN Card, Government Employee Card, Passport and Student ID Card) for verification at the entry point and whenever asked by Corbett Tiger Reserve officials on request.
Are there any arrangements for walking/camping/staying in hides and machans/night safaris/cycling/nature trails in Corbett Tiger Reserve?
Visitors are not allowed to trek, cycle or walk inside the Corbett Tiger Reserve except in a few designated areas. It is strictly forbidden to walk or get out of the vehicle. A few machans are open to visitors and they can spend time there after obtaining permission to do so from the appropriate judge. Night safaris are not allowed in the Tiger Reserve.
What precautions do I need to take for my safety while at Corbett Tiger Reserve?
Visitors are only allowed to move around the Corbett Tiger Reserve in designated vehicles with a registered wildlife guide/naturalist. Always keep a safe distance from wild animals. One should refrain from teasing wild animals and should never attempt to feed them. Getting out of the vehicle and moving on foot is strictly prohibited. Those are crimes. A first aid kit is mandatory in all vehicles. Winter clothing is recommended during the months of December and January. It is always advisable to follow the instructions of the Guide and stick to the Do’s and Don’ts. For your own safety, it is important to sit securely inside the vehicle, watch out for any hanging branches, avoid touching plants, eat leaves/fruit and follow all rules and regulations. Please familiarize yourself with these rules and regulations before entering the Corbett Tiger Reserve.
