Located in the northeastern corner of Corbett National Park, Durgadevi Zone boasts of the most beautiful scenery in the park. Hilly terrain with lush green forest and intense tranquility is what defines the exquisite beauty of Durgadevi tourist zone in Corbett Tiger Reserve. One of the six ecotourism zones of the park, this zone is best known for being home to a large number of exotic birds. The zone is literally a paradise for bird lovers. The tranquil wilderness of this zone is enriched by the diverse species of wild animals that grace this part of the Corbett forest and attract a large number of tourists every year. Corbett forest department organizes day jeep safari in this zone to explore the vibrancy and natural beauty of this Corbett tourist zone.

Durgadevi Zone is located on the hills and thus offers the most magical view of nature along with the variety of wildlife. Ramganga River and Mandal River intersect at several places in the zone which adds charm to this forest landscape. Like the other zones of the Corbett National Park, the Durgadevi zone is a natural habitat for a large number of magnificent species of wildlife including a few endangered wild animals. The favorable ecosystem and vast landscape are the perfect environment for wildlife to survive and flourish. The sight of fascinating topography and abundant wildlife attracts nature-loving tourists to this zone.

The main flora species of this zone include Sheesham, Sisoo, Dhak and Khair which are found in abundance in the park. Other vegetation of the zone like Chir pine, Chir Choti, Gajar Sot, Banj Oak, Kanju, Jamun, Aamla etc. grow in most of the park area. The common species of fauna of this zone are royal bengal tiger, wild pig, wild Asian elephant, various species of deer like spotted deer, sambar deer, barking deer, chital, rhesus monkey, black-faced monkey, jackal etc. Durgadevi zone has more number of wild elephants than others zones in the Corbett Park, so this zone is particularly famous for its wonderful wild elephant sightings and bird watching. The river water of the zone is home to the famous Mahsheer fish which can be seen in the river channels of the zone.
Durgadevi Gate is the gateway to this zone, which is located at a distance of 28 km from the nearest town of Ramnagar, making it the farthest zone from Ramnagar. This zone also has a forest rest house called Lohachaur forest house where tourists can enjoy a night stay and get the maximum experience of the dense raw forest. To enjoy a day’s Jeep safari or a night at a forest rest stop, tourists must obtain a permit to enter the park. It is better to make a reservation in advance, because the park gets a huge rush of tourists, especially on weekends and holidays. Durgadevi Zone is open for tourists from 15th October to 15th June every year. During the monsoon season, the park is closed for any tourist activity.
