It is the newest and the sixth eco-tourism zone which was opened for tourists in December 2014. Dhela Eco-tourism zone remains open for tourists throughout the year.
This area is extremely rich in flora and fauna. The zone is spread over 1173 hectares which has mixed forests of Sal, Rohini, Haldu, Bahera, Kusum and vegetation of tigers, leopards, Asian elephants, sloths and king cobras. The area is particularly rich in bird diversity.

Dhela (FRH)

Dhela FRH has a sprawling campus. It is located in the buffer zone of the Corbett Tiger Reserve, which was added to it in 1991. The Dhela village near FRH lends it its name. Bird-watching walks in the forest are a delight for anyone staying here.

Restaurant and Canteen: Food facilities at Dhela FRH are located in the middle of the jungle and are limited. This means that the guest house has a kitchen with a cook, but visitors have to bring their own ingredients to get a cooked meal. The forest lodge cook will cook the ingredients you provide and serve you a hot meal. You can only bring raw vegetarian items for cooking and wine is prohibited inside the forest lodge.

Safari in the jungle

Visitors can go on an elephant safari or a jeep safari. Both facilities are available at the shrine. Jeep safari requires advance booking. Tourists can also go on a forest trail with an armed guard. This can turn out to be a truly exciting experience of a lifetime. The sanctuary is located near the Corbett National Park and tourists can expect to see Asian elephants, tigers and many other species in their natural habitat.

Chaurs (Grass plots)

The sprawling Laldhang chaur is the main attraction of this zone. Grasslands are often seen full of elephants and deer. A few wild boars and Neelgai are also seen here. The area is also a popular spot for visitors with an interest in grassland birds.

Flora and fauna

Sheesam, Dhak, Sisoo and Khair are the most prominent trees found in Corbett. There are many other varieties around the park that add to the diversity of species. The only conifer found in the park is the Chir pine and it is seen on top of ridges like Chir Choti and descends in Gajar Sot. In the higher elevations near Kanda, there is a plantation of Banj oak, a typical Himalayan species. Kanju (Holoptelia Integrifolia), Jamun (Syzygium Cumini) and Aamla (Emblica Officinalis) grow in large areas. Other major tree species in Corbett Park.

How to reach Dhela

The entrance to the Dhela Zone is shared with the Jhirna Zone and is from the Dhela Gate which is located at a distance of approx. 15 km from Ramnagar.
